History

On Moon 168 during Leaffall, Almondkit, was born outside of the Clans alongside buns sister Haykit. Still newborns, Almondkit and Haykit wound up in a twoleg trap where they were eventually found and rescued by Saplinghollow and Songwatcher. The warriors took the kits back to camp and decided to raise them as their own, giving them the names Almondkit and Haykit. What happened to Almondkit's biological parents and how bun and buns sister ended up in the twoleg trap is still unknown.

During the later moons of Leafbare, Almondkit tumbled from a rock into a frigid pond whilst playing unsupervised, having snuck out of the camp. Fortunately, Locustwhistle had noticed the kit's disappearance and alerted the rest of the Clan, allowing Gingerglade to find Almondkit just in time to pull nem out of the water. Despite Gingerglade and the medics' best efforts, the chill in the air mixed with the frozen water soaking into Almondkit's pelt weakened Almondkit enough that ne soon contracted kittencough. Almondkit would survive the illness and learn a valuable lesson about being careful, but after neir little "adventure", both of neir mothers would always make sure to keep an extra close eye on nem. Almondkit's illness took an especially harsh toll on Songwatcher who lost her own littermate to kittencough when she was still a kit.

Almondpaw was beyond thrilled when they were apprenticed to none other than the leader himself, Ibisstar, purring so hard that their entire body was shaking. Their pride was bolstered even further when they managed to catch a mouse that was hiding in a bush during their first time out on the territory (kitten antics not withstanding). Their excitement was quickly extinguished when they returned to camp to find out that their sister Haypaw had gone missing. Things would only get worse when Haypaw's body was found later in the middle of LyreClan territory with a strange predator's scent clinging to her pelt.

Not long after becoming an apprentice, Almondpaw began to realize that "tom" just didn't describe how they felt about themself. After thinking for quite a longtime, Almondpaw gathers the courage to come out to their family, their confidence boosted by Wisteriamane's open usage of star/stars pronouns. They explained that they wanted to switch from using he/him pronouns to using ne/bun/they pronouns.

Throughout their training sessions, Almondpaw grew rather close with neir mentor. Ibisstar made sure to provide lots of positive reinforcement, complimenting Almondpaw when ne did something right and always gentle when ne messed up. Occasionally Almondpaw would worry that ne wasn't good enough to become a warrior, but Ibisstar was quick to quash those doubts, always encouraging Almondpaw to train as hard as ne could. Ibisstar would influence Almondpaw to follow the rules, avoid violence, and socialize more with neir Clanmates, reminding nem that neir greatest strength will always be neir community.

Ibisstar was impressed by his apprentice's rapid growth and decided that at elven moons old, Almondpaw was more than ready to graduate. Pride flowed through both mentor and apprentice as Ibisstar called a ceremony to honor Almondpaw's openness, bestowing bun with the warrior name of Almondvine. After the ceremony, Marshhaven gives Almondvine some clovers to decorate buns pelt as congratulations.

Wanting to follow in the pawsteps of neir mentor, Almondvine was always very eager to help out anyone who looked like they might be having trouble. Neir natural charisma certainly helped nem come off as more charming than annoying and the Clan quickly grew to trust that they could go to nem whenever they needed help.

Almondvine's mother, Songwatcher, along with their older brother Locustwhistle died of greencough during a particularly harsh leafbare. After their deaths, Almondvine was left more subdued, almost always seen at Saplinghollow's side as she was the one cat who still made them feel safe. Despite their grief, Almondvine continued to take care of their Clanmates, bringing prey to those who forgot to eat, helping apprentices with their training, and volunteering for camp maintenance without complaint.

Almondvine recieved Thicketsong's daughter Blackberrypaw as an apprentice at only twenty moons old. Although they were glad that Ibisstar had so much faith in them, they were also anxious that they hadn't had enough time to build up the skills they would be passing on to their protege. Although Blackberrypaw was a bit of a difficult apprentice to teach, Almondvine didn't mind. They found her admittedly childish quips to be amusing rather than irritating and were quick to praise her ingenuity and unwillingness to give up. After Blackberrypaw confessed that she felt like a failure, Almondvine reassured her that she was more than her mistakes and that, although it hurts, failure is a chance to learn. Almondvine guided their apprentice to follow her inner compass and not be afraid of confrontation. When Blackberrynip graduated, she was honored for her lightheartedness and her determination.

Only a few days after Blackberrynip's graduation, Almondvine chased a chipmunk alongside the edge of a crumbling cliff and fell when the ground begain to shift under neir weight. Ne survived the fall, but neir hind leg was badly broken in the process.
