Aspenstar is a white and dorsal-striped golden molly with copper eyes.

History

Aspenkit was born to Shinewillow on Moon 172 during leafbare alongside her siblings Billowkit and Rattlekit.

The sire of Shinewillow's kits was unknown to the whole of LyreClan except for Shinewillow who had a suspicion that it was a nomadic loner named Scavenger whom they had been together with for a short while before he moved on from the Clan territories. Aspenkit never questioned the absence of a second parent in her life, especially not when her uncle Bassgrowl was nearly as involved with her and her siblings' kithoods as Shinewillow themself was. In fact, after Shinewillow's untimely death, Bassgrowl would become the primary caretaker for his nieces and nephew.

Aspenkit was known for being a cheerful and friendly kit, eager to spend time with others and easy to get along with. She and her littermates had many kitsitters stop by the nursery to help Shinewillow with parenting, encouraged by Aspenkit's rather charming personality. Although she would lose her father in a mudslide when she was still very young, Aspenkit refused to slow down for tragedy. She busied herself with helping her older Clanmates to repair the camp and continued to be a bright presence in everyone's life. Several cats joked that her personality balanced out Billowkit's nicely.

When she turned six moons old, Aspenpaw was given to Harebramble to apprentice under. Aspenpaw eagerly threw her entire being into her training. She was determined to do her best, not just for her Clan, but for herself and her family. The conflict with SpindleClan meant that growing into a warrior quickly was important than ever. Since Billowpaw had chosen the path of a mediator, Rattlepaw was Aspenpaw's most frequent training partner. The two often sparred together, both working hard to improve their agility. Under Harebramble's steady guidance, Aspenpaw learned to stick to her guts when it comes to split second descisions and keep calm when trying to debate other cats. Harebramble made sure to instill in her apprentice the importance of adapting to the situation at paw. Different problems require different tools after all.

Aspenpaw would quickly decide that the best part of being an apprentice was finally being able to meet the "other Clan cats" she'd heard so many stories of as a kit. Her extremely bubbly personality and openness to just about anyone meant that she made quick friends with apprentices from other Clans, becoming especially close with the quiet but mischievous Bubblepaw of CreviceClan after the two met at a Gathering. Meeting so many new cats also meant that Aspenpaw would make her first enemy, accidentally invoking the anger of Erminepaw of BranchClan by taking faer favorite prey at their first Gathering. This would wind up starting a rather petty rivalry between the two of them that would last for nearly their entire apprenticeships.

Although her training often took up much of her time, Aspenpaw remained as social with her Clanmates as ever, sometimes to the point of being a bit exhausting. At one point, Aspenpaw and Figdash got the zoomies together and spent all night bouncing around the clearing with the unintended side effect of ensuring that no one in the Clan got a wink of sleep. Midnightlily was sure to give the sheepish duo a stern talking to in the morning and Aspenpaw was put on cleaning duty for the next week. Still, Aspenpaw found kinship in her fellow social butterfly, Rainpaw, and the Clan was relieved to find that the two apprentices were perfectly happy to wear themselves out chatting with each other. Finally, the rest of them got a chance for some peace and quiet.

During a particularly harsh leafbare, both Bassgrowl and Harebramble were killed, Harebramble by SpindleClan warriors and Bassgrowl in a tunnel collapse. Once again positioning herself as a rock for her siblings to lean on in the face of grief, Aspenpaw was surprised to find both Rattlepaw and Billowpaw joining forces to support her in return, Billowpaw using his mediator skills and Rattlepaw using the wisdom and uncanny empathy she had built up through their training. After an assessment of the apprentices, the newly appointed Ibisstar decided that Aspenpaw did not need to be given a new mentor as she was already prepared to graduate. At twelve moons of age, Aspenpaw was named Aspenglint and was honored for her exemplar.
